Bloodlines Jutsu and Chakra Systems
Elements, skill trees, and how every technique is unlocked and cast.
Combat in Bloodlines revolves around jutsu powered by your chakra and gated by the skill tree. This reference explains the elements, the Chakra Point economy, and how casting and mastering work. For a step-by-step unlock walkthrough, use the how to unlock jutsu guide; this page is the deeper system reference.
The chakra economy
Three resources drive the skill tree:
- Chakra Shards — obtained only by destroying a Chakra Point. A shard is required to start a skill tree branch. You can break up to four points (five as Otsutsuki), gaining one shard per age-up.
- Chakra Fragments — spent to purchase and master individual moves. Farm them from bosses, quests, mission boards, global events, and corrupted points.
- Elemental gems — element-specific unlock materials found through quests and drops.
Sitting at a Chakra Point grants a forcefield (no damage, no aging), fast travel to discovered points, and access to the skill tree menu.
Elemental paths
Bloodlines features multiple elemental and specialty trees, each with its own moves and mastered effects:
- Fire — offensive burst like Fireball and Kirin.
- Earth — Smoldering Earth, Earth Wall, Earth Dragon, Earth Slam, and Earth Golem for defense and control.
- Wind — Rising Wind, Wind Tornado, and Wind Discs for mobility and juggles.
- Water and Lightning — zoning and high-damage ailments (Purple Lightning for Ayrui).
- Sealing — Sealing Floor, Sealing Banners, and Barrier Rods that stun and seal.
- Genjutsu — Feather Genjutsu to sleep foes and Genjutsu Release to escape.
- Medical / Wood / Ice / Bone — clan-linked specialty trees.
Your active bloodline decides which jutsu you can use, so build into your clan’s element first.
Casting jutsu
Charge chakra by holding C, select an unlocked jutsu, and cast with the left mouse button. Your chakra bar sits on the left of the HUD; running out leaves you vulnerable. The blue shield icon next to it is passive guardbreak protection that consumes on a guardbreak while off cooldown.
Mastering jutsu
Mastering a jutsu lets you cast it with no handsigns and often improves it (for example, mastered Smoldering Earth spawns three pillars instead of one). To master:
- Build proficiency by repeatedly using the move.
- For your first mastery, pay the Skills Specialist a 75 Acumen fee.
- For additional masteries, sacrifice a physical limb from another player at the Sacrificial Seer, costing 17% of your max health each time.
Using a mastered jutsu puts your other mastered moves on a 5-second global cooldown, and mastery is permanent until you wipe.
Efficient jutsu building
Activate every Chakra Point, commit one element tree that matches your clan, farm fragments with the boss farming guide, and always keep one defensive move alongside your damage. New players should start with the getting started guide, and you can find Chakra Point and boss locations in the map wiki.
